On 11 September management at Solvay Group and the Solvay European Works Council signed a ‘Charter on good collaboration practice’, which represents a first foray into coordinating Europe-wide social dialogue across the various levels. The new ‘process’ is to be tested with new projects and important policies such as with HR, which is looking to align and harmonize rules, regulations procedures, and standards at a global level. The first of these will be the annual non-management employee evaluation.
This Charter aims to compensate for a lack of coordination in terms of social dialogue between several levels both local and European. “Oftentimes we end up consulting several different bodies at various levels and end up with many separate positions without really learning what overall message the staff is trying to express.
