Collective agreements that haven’t been renegotiated for at least two years will no longer be valid on July 8, following the 2012 labor reform. End of the one-year extension to unfreeze agreements. The labor reform enforced on July 7, 2012 gave the social partners one year to unfreeze pending agreements (see article No. 120100). In doing so, the law put an end to the principle of “ultra-actividad,” whereby collective agreements were automatically extended until the end of debates for their renewal. A few days to the deadline, 1,374 agreements risk disappearing, affecting more than 2 million employees.
