Difficult to reconcile. A majority of waged workers in the private sector, 56.7%, recognise that it is difficult for them to take days off for family reasons. In the public sector, the number of workers that complain of this type of problem falls to 25%. In general terms, the study entitled “Professional Indicators in the Autonomous Communities” (PIAC), carried out by IESE Business School and Adecco, reveals that employees, in particular, find it hard to reconcile their private and professional lives. Flexible working hours appears to be the most acute problem experienced by Spanish workers. 49.6% of employees and 22.3% of public workers claim that they are practically non-existent. Four out of six workers were unable to modify their working hours by more than one hour, or, in rare cases, just three. Many studies show this: Compared to their jobs, many Spaniards are pretty unsatisfied, not because of earnings or the job in itself, but the lack of time that remains to them for the family and their children’s education.
