The CCOO and UGT unions together with employers’ body, the ACE, have signed a new collective agreement for the call center sector, which guarantees the maintenance of purchasing power and introduces improvements towards better job stability. The CGT has criticized this agreement that it views as making precarious employment a permanent reality.
The agreement signed on 30 May comes after twenty-eight months of difficult negotiations punctuated by mobilization and strike action during which the trade unions criticized the ACE employers’ body’s intransigent attitude. The agreement is set to run for four years (2015-2019) and addresses both working conditions and the salaries of some 80,000 in a sector where precarious employment features particularly and where salaries of some €700 per month are the norm.
