On 02 May, Volkswagen management and the on-site majority unions, UGT, CCOO, and CGC, ratified an ‘Employment Agreement’ that establishes selection and recruitment arrangements and prioritizes access for current employees on permanent employment contracts to fixed positions.
Volkswagen’s Landaben, Navarro plant is gearing up to recruit. On 15 May it will launch a purely Internet based call for candidates who when successful will enable the company to meet a heavier workload stemming from production of the latest Polo model as well as a new model from 2018. The higher production needs will likely translate into between 300 and 500 new jobs, or at least an extra 10% (c.f. article No. 9702).
