Spain: Basque nationalist unions mobilize against a framework agreement signed in July signed by both the CCOO and UGT
The Basque nationalist unions are up in arms. They are protesting a framework agreement on collective negotiations that was signed on 22 July by the regions employers’ confederation Confebask and both the CCOO and UGT union bodies, under the auspices of the Basque government (c.f. article No. 9788). Both central union organizations, the traditionally moderate ELA union and the LAB union, which is sympathetic to the independent left, refused to take a place at the negotiating table. Only representatives of the CCOO and UGT central bodies agreed to negotiate and sign.
