Spain: Caixabank reaches agreement on social plan based on early retirement and voluntary leave

Caixabank unions and management have defined the modalities of the social plans providing for 2,600 leaves - all voluntary. All the representatives unions (CCOO, SECPB, UGT, SIB and CIC-FEC) signed the agreement reached on the night on March 26. Employees will leave through early retirement, voluntary leave, assignments and geographical mobility. (Ref. 130205)

In a press release, the trade unions expressed satisfaction with the effort the management made to improve its initial offer and its commitment to make sure the agreement would be implemented in a non-traumatic manner. Negotiations for the restructuring program had open on March 18. They were completed quickly in order to avoid having to implement the new decree-law on early-retirement approved on March 15 (see our dispatch No. 7408) which will come into force on April 1 and will limit appeal
