In order to strengthen the contributory principle, is has been agreed that the number of qualifying days of contribution needed to obtain a retirement contributory pension be raised from the current 4700 to 5475. The implementation of the raise will be timed over a period of five years, so that every six months in this period there will be a raise of approximately 77 days.
