The Spanish government has announced a raft of measures to support companies as they grapple with the impact of the war in Ukraine as well as soaring energy prices, with a view to alleviating potential repercussions on jobs. The government has also set conditions for receiving such support and introduced temporary limitations on redundancies at the companies benefiting therefrom.
The decree-law published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on 30 March 2022, which came into force on 1 April, sets out how a support budget of €6 billion will be distributed to companies and sectors affected by the conflict, so as to help them handle the fallout. The decree-law also states that companies which make use of the various direct support measures set out in the text will commit in return to preserving jobs.
