The union keeps restructuring itself and merged the financial services and trade and hotel industry sectors into a single services federation. This merger is in line with the CCOO’s gathering of structures (see article No. 8047), after uniting the wood and construction federation with the private services federation in January 2014, and the metal federation with the chemical and textile industries in February 2014.
The merger between the financial services’ federation, COMFIA, and the trade and hotel industries’ federation, FECOHT, was approved at a convention on July 14-15, leading to the creation of the CCOO’s new service federation. This is the last of the 3 mergers announced in December 2013 within the framework of a global program to downsize.
