Spain: decree establishing the minimum vital income (IMV) is published

The Decree-Law regulating the new Minimum Vital Income (Ingreso Mínimo Vital, IMV), which defines ‘the subjective right to receive a benefit of an economic nature that guarantees a minimum income level’ for persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion, was published in the Official State Bulletin on 01 June (on its adoption c.f. article No. 11972). The text details the conditions for its implementation.

IMV eligibility. This allowance can be cumulated with the regional integration income or with earned salaries, and acts as a ‘top up’ to the economic resources available to its beneficiaries up to various thresholds established on a per case basis. The allowance is non-transferable and is paid for as long as the economically vulnerable situation persists.
