The Supreme Court gave satisfaction to the CCOO union and recognized the right for students who do an internship within the framework of their university/vocational training – and who get paid – to be registered with social security. The decision is retroactive. The union had lodged an appeal against a decree limiting the obligation to register this category of interns with social security, thus canceling a measure adopted a few months earlier that aimed at “making up” for the fact that these young people entered the labor market late by taking internships done during their studies into account. Two million students (university or vocational training) could be covered, according to the trade unions. (Ref. 130375)
