Unions in Spain’s hospitality sector, the CCOO-Servicios and UGT-SMC as well as the employers’ bodies CEHAT and FEHR have ratified their fifth national framework agreement for the hospitality sector (ALEH V). The agreement runs for five years and will be the framework for negotiations for all the country’s sector’s collective agreements. The agreement contains a new classification and professional mobility system. It modifies the disciplinary regime and sets out how to use training contracts.
This agreement is in line with collective negotiations originally and formally started in 1995, between representatives of both employees and employers that had itself replaced an earlier 1974 workplace decree for the hotel industry. To succeed in the change the sector’s social partners took on to work consistently together and favor constant dialogue above and beyond the mere signing of various 5 year framework agreements.
