Spain: Nissan WC election confirms unions that supported competitiveness pacts negotiated with the management

In Barcelona, employees validated the pay and productivity pact.  Employees clearly supported Sigen-USOC (workers’ union of Catalonia) and UGT, the two unions which supported a cost-cutting pact (see our dispatch No.  110025) which involved a pay freeze until 2014, a working time increase and greater flexibility to get the production of a new vehicle and guarantee the plant’s future in Catalonia.  While the total number of delegates went from 63 at the 2007 election to 55 today because the workforce decreased, Sigen-USOC has the same number of representatives (27), UGT goes from 11 to 10, CCOO from 21 to 16 and CGT from 4 to 2.
