Pedro Solbes, Minister for Economic Affairs, announced that minimum interprofessional wages (SMI) would "increase slower than anticipated with different economic circumstances". The trade unions criticized this declaration, and demanded that the changes to the agenda be discussed within a social dialogue commission. (Ref. 080685)
The Minister didn’t rule out the possibility
to reach €800 gross in 2012 for the SMI (instead of €600 for the moment), as
the Socialist Party promised during its electoral campaign (see our dispatch
No. 080343), “because goals should be pursued” he said. However, he also added
that the measures would have to be “adjusted” according to the economic evolution
in the country.
Unions’
protests. The UGT and CCOO trade unions answered
that any change would have to be discussed with the Social Partners
