On 27 March, the CCOO and UGT-FICA unions, together with the employers’ body, Confemetal, signed the second national collective agreement for the metals sector (industry, technology, and services), which determines working conditions for almost one million workers and approximately 170,000 companies. The agreement regulates all issues that are negotiated upon at national level for a sector that is traditionally covered by both regional collective agreements and local-level business profession agreements. The goal of the agreement is to define a national negotiation framework and move towards more homogeneity in terms of working conditions and salaries whilst still taking into account local specificities.
