Bringing talent back home. At a time when the country is recovering and creating some 500,000 jobs per year, this is what the Volvemos (We are returning) association is looking to do as it raises awareness among administrative bodies and companies over the issue of Spanish youths who were driven out of their country by the economic crisis and settled in northern Europe or South America.
Because of the lack of official statistics it is difficult to gauge how many youths left Spain to escape the crisis. Nonetheless in 2013 demographer Amparo Gonzalez-Ferrer had already estimated some 700,000 economic emigrants.
