The Comisiones obreras union is sounding the alarm about the risk the public postal company Correos is running faced with the government's inertia. According to the CCOO, whereas all EU countries are trying to strengthen their postal operators before the total liberalization of the sector which should take place in 2011, the Spanish government seems to have chosen the opposite path. the court's condemnation of the company's monopoly for mail coming from the public administration, or even the government's plan to allow the Deutsche Post to be part of the universal postal service, are additional threats. State pact. The union wants a State agreement to consider the postal sector as strategic and to give it priority attention. It also wants the negotiated transposition of the third postal directive to open to competition in a fair way inasmuch as the public sector is clearly deficient.
