Spain: unions accuse car manufacturers of taking advantage of the crisis to sort out their structural problems at the expense of the workers

The two union confederations UGT and CCOO vigorously reacted to the announced job cuts at Nissan and Seat in Catalonia and to the change for the production plans of Renault in Valladolid. Whereas Nissan announced 1.680 dismissals and Seat wants to share out the output reduction on 10.600 employees, unions denounce the fact that the manufacturers "work together" on their job cut schemes to impose the changes to the labor market they have been trying to carry through for years. The CCOO’s national coordination for the automotive sector reminded that the Spanish sector is competitive, financially healthy, and keeps making profit and collecting new projects.
