Spain’s Labour Inspectorate is studying working hour practices in large audit and consultancy firms at a time when the renegotiation of the sector's collective agreement is in full swing and employers' representatives have asked for 12-hour working days without supplementary salary compensation to be included in the agreement.
A major swoop. On 15 November 2022, the Spanish Labour Inspectorate swooped into the Madrid headquarters of the ‘Big Four’ major auditing and consulting firms (Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC) undertaking surprise spot checks that have only recently been reported by the Spanish press and that are making the sector feel very uncomfortable indeed.
