The management of the Norwegian group StatoilHydro (29.500 employees) and the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Unions (ICEM) with its Norwegian affiliate, Industri Energi (IE), revised, on November 13, 2008, the international framework agreement adopted in 1998 and updated several times. This agreement replaces the previous agreement the ICEM signed with the Norwegian public gas and oil company Statoil, in July 1998, in collaboration with NOPEF, the union which represented, at the time, Norwegian workers in the gas and oil sector. Then, NOPEF merged with the NKIF chemistry union, creating Industri Energi (IE), while Statoil bought Norsk Hydro’s share in gas and oil, creating StatoilHydro in 2007.
