The executive committee of the Swedish confederation of blue-collar workers, LO, prepared the course of the congress which is going to take place from May 31 to June 4, 2008. The starting point of the document which will be discussed is the observation that increased international competitiveness requires that Sweden makes progress in training. (Ref. 080215)
The committee criticizes the center right government’s policy, which aims at creating jobs at all costs, which results in Sweden scarifying the future in the present. For the committee, a true employment policy must train Swedish people to the jobs of the future, so that employees’ skills correspond to companies’ future needs, which is also true of blue-collar workers.
