It is to change this trend that LO and Svenskt Näringsliv agreed to supplement the amount of the allowance paid with an additional 10-percent benefit, to make it more appealing, financially. Valorized parental leave. On December 1, 2013, the 14 unions affiliated with LO approved the deal reached with Svenskt Näringsliv for a financial supplement to parental leave benefits. “This supplement to the allowance was an important equality issue in this year’s negotiations. All 14 unions believe that both parents should have the same right to a supplement during parental leave,” explained Torbjörn Johansson, LO secretary in charge of agreements.
