The Swedish Labour Minister announced that he wanted to make it mandatory to adhere to an unemployment insurance fund, which was until now voluntary in the kingdom. According to him, this plan aims at thwarting the employees' constant outflow from the funds since January 2007, date to which came into effect the contributions' increase decided by the new center-right government. By expressing his intentions to the Parliement on April 20, the conservative MP Sven Otto Littorin, the Labour Secretary, set for the Spring of 2008 the presentation of a project in this direction and to July 1 of that same year its enforcement.
