The 26th annual congress of the LO confederation (LandsOrganisationen in Sverige), in Stockholm from May 31 to June 4, was the opportunity to close ranks to face the tough situation of the Swedish union movement in a context where the government is openly questioning the principle of finding a consensus with the social partners. The congress brought together 300 representatives from 15 federations, who have the right to vote. However, over 1.500 people attended it because it is an open event. The representatives gave their opinion on 271 motions and examined two reports, one on the internal organization of the confederation and the other on more coordination between local agreements and collective agreements negotiated at the national level. Wanja Lundby-Wedin, LO’s chair, was reelected.
