The telecommunication group Telefonica, the trade union federation Uni Global and the Spanish unions UGT and CC.OO signed, on December 17, a "code of conduct" on workers' rights, renewing the previous agreement which dated back to 2001. (Ref. 080005)
Philip Jenings, Uni’s general secretary, is satisfied with this new version of the agreement “through which Telefonica shows that it respects its workers and that it understands that social dialogue is necessary”, which is a “sign that the company is able to guarantee decent jobs and good working conditions for its employees.” Telefonica’s chair, Cesar Alierta, said he was happy with this agreement which “extends good industrial relations.”
