On March 4, the Finnish company specialized in broadband video and data communication systems and services, Teleste Group, signed an agreement establishing a European Works Council. An example that this European structure is now reaching “small” groups (1,261 employees in 20 countries, mostly in Europe), this agreement stands out as, under Finnish law, it introduces a Nordic-style cooperation body rather than an information/consultation structure. Besides, it optimizes its activity with systematic appeal to virtual meetings.
Composition. Countries applying for EU membership are included in the agreement’s scope. There will be 1 member for each country with at least 50 employees, and 2 for countries with 300 workers or more. 2 additional members may represent all the countries that have less than 50 employees, but the modalities for appointing them are not detailed.
