On 16 October 2018, the Dutch Senate’s Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defense and Development Cooperation ( BDO) decided to postpone the discussion of the Dutch Child Labour Due Diligence Law (Wet zorgplicht kinderarbeid). At the same, the BDO expressed its wish to complete the legislative process on this bill within the current legislative term (March 2021).

The BDO decided on this postponement in view of the two pending evaluations that relate to core issues in the debate on this bill, namely the evaluation of the Dutch National Contact Point for the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and of the multi-stakeholder IRBC Agreements by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
