According to a new study conducted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), 4% of the British working population work in the gig economy, essentially to top up their salaries. The study also finds that for 25% of workers in the sector, their job in the gig economy is their main source of income. The study, which was published on 17 March, dismisses some of the pre-conceived ideas about the ‘uberised’ economy.
