Having threatened to “name and shame” those companies that fail to pay their staff the minimum wage, the UK government kept its promise by publishing a list of over 200 employers on 21 June. Among the worst offenders are WHSmith, the books and stationery retail chain, which failed to pay over £1 million (€1.17 million) to 17,607 workers.
