While the UK government shares the concerns expressed by the parliamentary committee, it has not committed to banning the use of non-disclosure agreements in sexual harassment cases, as the report recommended.
The UK government has reacted to the recent ‘Sexism in the City’ report by the House of Commons Treasury Committee. Published in March, the report found a “shocking” level of sexism and misogyny in the financial services sector, which employs more than 2.5 million people in the country. It highlights a whole series of obstacles that contribute to gender inequality and also points to the “misuse” of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in sexual harassment cases, calling for these to be banned.
