While prospects are fading of a $15 minimum hourly wage by 2025 being included in the $1.9 trillion U.S. stimulus package that is currently under Congress review, several major retailers have already adopted this salary threshold. However, the retail sector comprises a great more than just the large retail chains.

Costco, the US warehouse retail chain stores pays its staff at least $16 an hour. In 2020 both the hypermarket chain Target and the Best Buy electronics chain raised their pay-rate to $15 in a bid to motivate staff amid the Covid-19 crisis.
