While prospects are fading of a $15 minimum hourly wage by 2025 being included in the $1.9 trillion U.S. stimulus package that is currently under Congress review, several major retailers have already adopted this salary threshold. Costco, the US warehouse retail chain stores pays its staff at least $16 an hour. In 2020 both the hypermarket chain Target and the Best Buy electronics chain raised their pay-rate to $15 in a bid to motivate staff amid the Covid-19 crisis.
