Up until now workers earning more than $23,660 per year could not qualify for overtime pay. On 18 May new rules presented by the Labor Ministry raise this annual threshold to $47,476, affecting, according to the authorities, an extra quarter of a million employees as of 01 December 2016 when the rule will come into effect.
