Truck drivers from the Teamsters trade union have convinced the US Congress to exclude particularly heavy trucks from its draft legislation on driverless vehicles. The decision provides temporary respite for truck drivers.
The Teamsters trade union has come out on top in their first clash in Congress with constructors of driverless trucks. Senators and elected members of the House of Representatives decided to exclude trucks weighing in excess of 4.5 tonnes from the draft bill to regulate self-driving vehicles.
