After three days of negotiations, the trade unions and management of Volkswagen Forest reached, on December 20th, an agreement concerning the payment of the anticipated retirements (pre-pensions) for all the company's employees aged at least 50. (Ref. 061286)
Initially, management had agreed to cover the totality (for workmen) and 90 % (for the employees) of the difference between the last monthly gross wages and the unemployment pay that would be granted to old workers aged at least 50, until they retire. These were exceptional advantages, comparable to the premiums for voluntary departures obtained almost two weeks ago (see story n°061248) and which have already attracted more than 1900 workers.
