According to sources close to the issue, VW could possibly have a new Audi model produced in Brussels-Forest, where 3400 jobs are threatened after VW decided to relocate the Golf production in Germany. Audi's CEO, Martin Wintekorn, is due to meet Belgian PM Guy Verhofstadt this week. But this scenario would come true only if trade unions agree to cut production costs, like in Germany. Volkswagen is thinking of producing a new model of its luxury car make Audi – the small A1 – in Brussels-Forest, starting in 2009.
