In Europe, Ahold Delhaize is starting 2025 with a phase of consolidation. In Belgium and Romania, the business is to add 2,000 stores through acquisitions of Delfood and Profi.
On January 13, Ahold Delhaize (annual sales 2023: US$88.6 billion, up 3.8% at constant exchange rates, after 6.9% rise a year earlier) acquired 100% of the shares of Belgian Delfood NV. Although the amount was not disclosed, this includes a distribution centre and 325 convenience stores supplied by Delfood NV (of which 70% belong to Louis Delhaize and 30% to independent owners supplied by Delfood).
