As part of the adoption of the Online Safety law Social Media Minimum Age, voted on 28 November 2025, minors aged under 16 will no longer be able to access social networks in Australia from December 10, 2025. Ten platforms are affected. These include Snapchat, with 440,000 local users aged 13 to 15 in 2024; Instagram with 350,000; YouTube with 325,000, TikTok with 200,000 and also Facebook, Threads, X, Reddit, Kick and Twitch.
