On September 22, 10 years after a first attempt, California passed a law banning the sale of non-recyclable plastic bags (single-use or reusable). The law will come into force on January 1, 2026. Californians will be able to buy recyclable bags containing at least 40% recycled materials. In 2028, this threshold will rise to 50%.
