In 2019 China is expected to become the world’s biggest retail market with sales of US$5.6 trillion (+7.5%), outpacing the U.S., at US$5.53 trillion (+3.3%), said eMarketer. E-commerce in China is driving much of this dynamic, generating 35% of total retail sales in 2019. Globally, 56% of all online sales will take place in China. China surpassed the U.S.A. by online sales value in 2013.
