Taking advantage of TotalEnergies' withdrawal from petrol stations, the Canadian company Couche-Tard is filling the space and expanding operations in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Two years after failing to buy Carrefour, Couche-Tard (turnover of US$55.6 billion in the 9 months to the end of January 2023, up by 20%) announced on 16th March the purchase of 2,200 Total petrol stations. Already selling in Ireland, Poland, the Nordics and the Baltic States, the Canadian company is buying 1,195 stations in Germany and 387 in the Netherlands.
