This is an unusual move within the retail property industry. In mid-January 2020, the German property owner ECE (€32.3 billion of assets under management, including 195 shopping malls) established a subsidiary in China called ECE Shanghai. For a property company owned by the influent Otto family, this marks a very first Asian foothold. As the Group does not expect the health and sanitary crisis to last long, ECE decided to further expand existing activities in China. It has been active in China
