The supermarket chain Rewe bought Lekkerland. This wholesaler runs service stations, bakeries, restaurants (snacking and take-away meals) in 7 European countries. In 2018, the company generated an operating profit of €93 million for a turnover of €12.4 billion. According to Rewe C.E.O. Lionel Souque, “The development of out-of-home consumption is one of the strongest trends in retail. On-the-go catering will play an even bigger role in the future.”
