The Dutch fashion brand C&A (13,000 stores in 17 countries) closed the 4,200 sq.m production plant in Mönchengladbach, Germany at the end of February 2025. Opened in 2021 for producing jeans, the factory was the first European relocation in 17 years. The objective was to test more virtuous production methods in Europe via a low-cost, high-yield model (annual capacity of 420,000 jeans). However, this industrial site has not proved profitable. 90 staff are affected by the closure.
