Gap Inc (sales of US$16.7 billion in 2021, +2% from 2019) is coming back to India via a new franchising agreement with Reliance Retail. Headquartered in Mumbai, Reliance is India’s largest retailer with 12,700 stores. The agreement covers both online and offline businesses. The first Gap stores in India are expected to open in autumn 2022. Reliance will also distribute Gap on its online platforms : Ajio.com (launched in 2016) and Jiomart, which are the main competitors of Flipkart (Walmart)...
