The WSJ revealed that Shein signed a partnership with India’s Reliance Industries as it faces scrutiny from the U.S.A. Stock Exchange Commission (S.E.C.) over enforced labour of Uighur people. This partnership will enable the firm to source fabrics from Indian SME’s and should help address questions about the use of cotton from Xinjiang. A factory is also planned in India, where the Shein app was banned in 2020.
