According to a Duff & Phelps study published at Mapic Italy (23rd and 24th May 2019), Italy has 914 shopping centers (78% of GLA sq.m) and 214 retail parks (16% of GLA sq.m). 44% of these were built between 2000 and 2010 and 58% are in the North. The study outlines that with an average size of 12,000 sq.m GLA, they have “high growth potential”, even where medium or small shopping centers are predominant in the Italian commercial market.
