The British sporting goods retailer JD Sports will take over its U.S. rival Finish Line (556 stores) via a US$558 million deal. The regulatory approval is expected no earlier than in June 2018. In the quarter to March 2018, the sales of Finish Line dropped by 7.9% like-for-like to US$561 million. Since April 2013, Finish Line closed nearly 100 of 651 units. JD Sports is now competing in the world’s biggest athletics leisure market by sales.
