Danish retailer Lego (sales of €3.7 billion in H1 2023, up by 1% vs H1 2022) is giving up manufacturing toys in recycled plastic (Polyethylene Terephtalate) because they produce too much CO2. On September 27, the Group ended a 2-year trial to make bricks from recycled plastic bottles. A one litre bottle could produce around 10 bricks (size 4×2) but the additional stages in the process use more energy, and the factories would have had to be redeveloped.
