The world’s largest drugstore retailer, also the 5th biggest retailer by sales worldwide, will invest US$416 million to acquire a 40% stake in the Chinese chain of pharmacies “Sinopharm Guoda”. Based in Shanghai, GuoDa is the top Chinese pharmacy retailer, with 3,500 pharmacies across 70 cities. Alliance Boots has been active in China for 10 years.
